The Great Singapore Sales is Back!! The whole island is on sales from 23 May 2008 and ends on 20 July 2008. Some places to go shopping are:

  • Vivocity - latest shopping near Harbour front - shop on your way to Sentosa Island

Singapore’s half price surprise is back

Singapore’s half price surprise is back

The Half Price Singapore Surprise promotion is back this year – thanks to an overwhelming number of Malaysians visiting the island republic.
Singapore Tourism Board Asean (M) regional director Chang Chee Pey said the promotion, introduced last year, attracted 47,000 Malaysian visitors.
“We are expecting a larger crowd of at least 60,000 visitors this time,” he said, adding that the promotion would last from May 23 to June 30.

This means that travellers to Singapore will get more than 50% discount as all the entrance fees are in Singapore dollars - eg entrance to the zoo, night safari, underwaterworld, and many other singapore attractions.

This 165m tall wheel offers a panoramic view of Marina Bay and its surroundings.
It is located on the southeast tip of the Marina Centre reclaimed land. The ride offers views of the city centre, the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan and parts of Johor, Malaysia.

Chinese New Year Cookies


2008 is also called the Brown Rat year. Chinese New Year this year falls on 7 February, 2008.

For travellers to Singapore and Malaysia, take note that 7 and 8 are public holidays in both Malaysia and Singapore. Small shops are usually closed but big department stores are open. Chinese restaurants.

Singaporeans and Malaysian are busy preparing New Year cookies this month or buy them for the New Year. The most important cake is the Niangao/ Nian Gao/ Nian Kueh or in Penang Hokkien tnee kueh. Other traditional cakes and cookies are kueh kapit (love letters), kueh bangkit, kueh bulu and peanut biscuits.
